Emanuel Modoc is a PhD candidate for the Department of Comparative and Universal Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. His research interests include the avant-garde of East-Central Europe and contemporary Romanian literature, literary theory and criticism. He is a regular contributor at Romanian literary magazines such as “Cultura”, “Vatra”, “Apostrof” and “Tribuna”, where he publishes reviews and articles on Romanian contemporary literature and literary criticism. His latest publications include a paper on the poetics of Romanian avant-garde manifestoes (published "Metacritic Journal for Comparative Studies and Theory”, October 2015), a study on ecocriticism in Romanian post-war cultural discourse („Nature in Communism. Ideology and Discourse”), published in "Vatra Literary Review” in May 2016, and an essay on the critical reception of Geo Bogza’s poetry in the interwar period ("Transilvania Magazine”, October 2016).
